Extreme Makeover: Banner Edition
Many of you have noticed our Banner is "stretched", "hazy", and "squished".
And we've been astounded by the number of individuals who offered help.
So of course, we're going to let you go all out and submit our banner to intensive renovation, deck it out in new colors, and simply create a new banner to replace the old.
You can create any banner that centers on Project Connect Values (that is: mentorship, sharing, community) and Burnaby North Secondary. The banner must be 200-250 pixels tall and 700-800 pixels long.
You can submit your creation by having inserting the image in your post. June 9th will be the last day of submission, and we will utilize the polling feature of the forum to allow users to vote for their favorite banner. The winning banner will be placed on our forum and we will assign a special rank (visible next to their name) to the winning member to remind everyone who the banner came from :-)

Hey, I've heard a couple of you guys request school logos. I got in touch with Mr. Mickie and he's agreed to let us post a couple of school logos up here for you to use when you design the banner.

OK, I threw this together in about 10 minutes... throwing it out there to be criticized. I tried to keep it simple.

Hey, at least your vikinghead isn't squished. And I like what you've done with it, especially our new motto underneath the vikinghead
Nice, sharp, and simple. But do you think "Connecting you with graduates" is too long?
What if we just said "Connecting people" ?

Re: Extreme Makeover: Banner Edition
Well, I was trying to emphasize on the community part, because it was my understanding that the forum was strictly for grads to communicate with current BN students. I can most definitely swap it to people if you want, I still have the photoshop file anyway.

Re: Extreme Makeover: Banner Edition
You're right that the forum was primarily made with the intent of connecting current BN students with grads, but there was no doubt in my mind that connecting current alumni with each other (and older alumni?) is just as important. And I'm happy to see a couple people using it for this purpose. To be honest, I learned a lot from other alumni even when I was an alumni myself, and I'm only happy to facilitate this.
But hey, do what you feel is best. You're the artist. I was just making a comment.
And say bernz, are u up on SFU campus this summer? We should meet up sometime.

Re: Extreme Makeover: Banner Edition
Hey! These ones are so awesome! Do you guys just use photoshop? Or are there other programs out there to do this kind of stuff? I've always meant to learn to create that kind of shadowed block letters in YDam07's entry, but have never figured out how yet. I currently use Paint.NET, which can do almost everything Photoshop can, but it just takes a while to learn to apply the Photoshop tricks to Paint.NET.

Hey~, I don't know about the others, but I only used photoshop for creating the banner that I created, and I will think that it was also the same for the other banners as well. As for the block letters, there are blending options that you can choose for your text in photoshop, and was what I use to emboss my letters.
