Summer Job Recommendation in Vancouver
Hi,
I am interested in volunteering or getting a summer job this summer, and I am just wondering if yo guys have anything to recommend that is related to health science. Hospitals and Senior centres are good places to start but does anyone know which ones have spaces available? And besides hospitals and senior centres, what other places are good and perhaps could earn some money.

I know care aides and recreational therapists are positions that some students get while still going to school, but I do think there are some requirements behind them (though I can't remember what exactly).

2. JOB SUMMARY
The Division of Health Care Communication in the College of Health Disciplines at UBC is seeking a project assistant to help with a research and development project about active patient and community involvement in health professional education. The goal of the project is to lay the foundation for a Community Centre for Health Professional Education. We aim to learn, by participatory design, how to create long term and trusting partnerships with patient organizations that result in community-led educational programs that promote patient-centred interprofessional practice and provide new teaching and learning resources for health professional programs at UBC. This project brings together patients, community organizations, students and faculty to develop sustainable interprofessional student-centred learning activities provided in partnership with community organizations. The project assistant will help with research and program development of patient-led educational activities for students.
POSITION FUNCTION
To assist with research and program development on patient-led educational activities for students in health professional programs.
3. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The assistant will work with the Division of Health Care Communication team and associates (patients, community organizations, medical educators, social scientists, allied health professionals, school counselors, health science students). The assistant reports to the Research Coordinator and ultimately the Co-Directors of the Division.
4. WORK PERFORMED
Assists with collecting information about health care communications from individuals and groups in the community for research and development projects.
Assists with administering forms, questionnaires and surveys.
Maintains detailed records of meetings and other project related activities.
Assists with preparing progress reports and disseminates information about the projects to the project team.
5. EXERCISING JUDGEMENT/IMPACT OF DECISIONS
N/A
All decisions would be made in consultation with the team.
Work will be reviewed periodically for achievement of milestones, cost control and quality of performance by the Research Coordinator and Co-Directors.
The novel and sometimes controversial nature of the work requires that we establish and maintain good relationships and credibility with a wide range of collaborators and interest groups – failure to adhere to the best practice of interpersonal skills, ethics in research could jeopardize these relationships.
6. SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Reports to the Research Coordinator and ultimately the Co-Directors of the Division. Wherever possible, will receive detailed instructions on assignment of new duties; these will usually be worked out in team planning sessions. Thereafter, regular supervision will be available on a daily basis via the Research Coordinator.
7. SUPERVISION GIVEN

Shared office space with typical office accoutrements.

Insight into problems in health care communications, research and development in the community, and how to improve personal communications.
