How's the AP English Lit class now? I'm wondering, do you guys still write the essays on existentialism? = )

Ah but Sian, why bother writing the essay? We're just going to die anyways

haha, oh my wow, what has existentialism done to you?

in fact, it is because we are all gonna die anyways, that we should make the most of our life time. since writing essays is a fundamental skill that prepares the vikings for the future by requiring logic for the synthesis of materials, it is absolutely necessary for the vikings to write essays.

isn't the attitude of "why do anything because we're all gonna die anyways?" more accurately described as nihilism?

The fine line between nihilism and existentialism is thrilling. My personal interpretation of Douglas Coupland's "Hey Nostradamus" includes exploring that fine line. If the world is meaningless, there appears to be two common responses:

1) The world is meaningless, and so our existence is an exercise in futility.

2) The world is meaningless, and so we are free and liberated in how we can inject purpose into our lives.

Such conflict between those two opposing forces!

your grad write up is only cool if you added something pertaining to we're just going to die anyways.
