Waterloo is a pretty small town. It's not like Vancouver - a city. You may find it a bit difficult to adjust in the beginning. But it's a great place where you can focus on your studies. Are you on co-op? I think one of the greatest things Waterloo offers is its co-op program - opens a lot of job opportunities for you - and most important of all, through the various co-op placements, you learn what you like (or don't like), helps with personal and professional development.
It's a good idea to live in rez for the first year, say at Village 1 - where you can meet new friends - help with the adjustment. I think Waterloo is great! Its academic programs are quite solid.
